Todd L. Nuttall / CEO & Director

Todd Nuttall serves as CEO and is a member of the Board of Directors. He was introduced to Better ATM in 2004 and now is engaged full time with the company.

Mr. Nuttall has over 20 years in domestic and international business leadership, finance, payments systems, audit, and business consulting. Since 2002, his consulting firm CoPilot LLC has consulted numerous growing entrepreneurial businesses to improve profitability and prepare operations, management, and reporting for sale. His roles and responsibilities at client venues have included those of General Manager and CEO and has been successful in multiplying the business volume and value of clients.

As Vice President of Financial and Strategic Services for American Express, Mr. Nuttall led efforts to transform payment processing and financial reconciliation and reporting. His leadership extended around the world with major centers in India, the U.K. and North America. He presided over disaster recovery leading the American Express Financial Resource Center through the 9/11 recovery and displacement of 5,000 New York-based workers. He led the deployment of Six Sigma and Total Process Quality Assurance efforts.

From 1996 to 1999 Mr. Nuttall Served as Vice President and CFO of American Express World-wide Data Operations which included oversight and reporting on technology spending approaching $1 Billion annually. During this period of significant technology growth, Mr. Nuttall led efforts to ensure proper technology investment and business profit margin assurance through the implementation of Activity-Based Costing chargeback models and Systems Reengineering. During this period he led efforts resulting in cost savings and reductions approaching $200 million.

In 1995, Ernst & Young LLP recruited Mr. Nuttall to help lead the Phoenix-based Information Systems Assurance and Advisory Services. In this capacity, Mr. Nuttall consulted and audited the business activities of numerous businesses in the southwestern United States. Prior to this, Mr. Nuttall had served in Internal Audit for Phelps Dodge Corporation, the world’s 2nd largest producer of copper and copper products. Mr. Nuttall’s work at Phelps Dodge included reviews and investigations of business activities throughout North, Central, and South America. His fluency in Spanish has long served as an asset in all his leadership roles.

Mr. Nuttall held technology leadership roles at Boeing Computer Systems for over 5 years. He was awarded the Westinghouse Signature Award of Engineering Excellence for his leadership over large distributed computing implementations, which covered not only Boeing, but also business partners including Westinghouse Corporation, Kaiser Engineering, Battelle-Pacific Northwest Laboratories, and the U.S. Department of Energy.

Mr. Nuttall holds a B.A. in Communications, Media Management and Sales from Brigham Young University, and an M.B.A. from Colorado State University where he was also recognized as the first C.S.U. M.B.A. graduate with a specialty in Computer Information Systems. He is an active Pilot and Aircraft Owner and sponsors numerous efforts in the general aviation community.

 

Thomas E. Honey / Chief Development Officer & Director

Thomas Honey serves as Chief Development and Marketing Officer and is a member of the Board of Directors. He was introduced to Better ATM in August 2006 and has been instrumental in establishing the company’s strategic and market direction.

Mr. Honey has over 30 years experience in services oriented industries both domestically and internationally that includes an extensive background in the development, operation and management of secure electronic transaction services. He is currently CEO of his own firm that provides payment system consulting services and markets cash card programs and ancillary financial services nationwide but will devote full time to Better ATM.

Mr. Honey has held senior positions with Visa USA and Visa International for 11 years and the NYCE ATM/debit card network in New York for 4 years. At Visa (1973-84) he is credited with developing and implementing the Visa debit card (now called the Visa Check Card), Visa Travelers Cheque, Visa Gold Card, the Visa name change and card design, and with establishing Visa International regions and offices worldwide. He served as the Asia-Pacific region’s first Chief General Manager where he established Visa’s online, real-time electronic payment and telecommunications systems, brought up a $30 million operating company in Australia under crisis conditions to save a key Visa market and helped pioneer Visa card services in the People’s Republic of China.

At NYCE (1992-95), Mr. Honey served as Executive Vice President (Marketing & Sales) where he led the establishment of NYCE in over 20,000 merchant point-of-sale locations in two years and expanding owner/membership to include Citibank. During this time, he also was a member of the Board of Directors of the Smart Card Forum - a multi-industry organization dedicated to the broader development of smart card services and standards in North America.

Mr. Honey also served as President & Executive Director of the Consumer Bankers Association in Washington, D.C. (1986-87) where he managed a turnaround effort to re-establish this 80-year old trade association, re-established the association’s leadership in consumer lending issues, and led an industry wide effort to simplify bank credit card disclosures resulting in successful bi-partisan legislation.

Earlier in his career with Wells Fargo Bank and Bank of California (1969-73), he helped establish the first automated payments clearinghouse and install one of the world’s first automated teller machines that took deposits as well as dispensed cash (1971).

Mr. Honey has been active in various industry projects to enable consumers to transact more securely and with greater privacy over the Internet with their debit cards. While with IBM’s e-Business group (formerly known as the Internet Division) and later with VeriSign of Mountain View, California, his efforts focused on secure authentication and digital signature technology (PKI – public key infrastructure). At VeriSign, Mr. Honey was responsible for industry marketing and was instrumental in helping develop and pilot digital signature transactions as part of a multi-industry effort sponsored by the National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA). At IBM, he was responsible for the development and promotion of PKI enabled applications for card payment systems, digital identity and signature solutions for consumer and business applications, and was instrumental in helping to establish key principles for e-signature legislation at both the state and federal levels.

He also served for five years as Senior Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Customer Service with the American arm of DHL Worldwide Express (1987-92). In this role, he helped establish a new strategic direction, introduced new services including the industry’s first automated shipping processing system, and revamped sales management and compensation of a 400+ national sales force that led to an increase in domestic revenue to over $500 million and a $40 million profit turnaround.

Mr. Honey holds a BA degree in History with minors in Economics and English from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California (1966) and Master of Business Administration studies at the University of Nevada-Reno (1967-68).

He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Mediasmith, Inc., a San Francisco based advertising media planning and placement agency, Smart CellCover, Inc., a Wilmington, North Carolina firm engaged in use of RFID technology with mobile telephone and PDA devices for micro-payments, and Better ATM Services, Inc.

Daniel R. Oberan / Chairman and Founder

Daniel Oberan is the founder of Better ATM and serves as its current Chairman. Better ATM is the brainchild of Mr. Oberan based on early patent development of his brother, Steve in the late 1990’s. Mr. Oberan acquired the primary patented technology supporting the issuance of non-cash media from ATMs from his brother and led efforts to further develop the business model. This included significant market research and gathering executive talent and industry expertise to develop the Better ATM prepaid card distribution system for market penetration.

Mr. Oberan’s experience includes improvement of systems that deliver products, tactical planning, and comprehensive knowledge of all matters related to the business of the organization. Mr. Oberan is currently involved in the day-to-day activities of Better ATM Services in order to improve the systems that deliver non-cash media products from ATM’s worldwide and provides another senior voice of guidance to top management.
Before founding Better ATM Services, Mr. Oberan co-owned and managed for twelve years a financial direct marketing firm with over 140,000 customers. Under his leadership, the firm introduced an innovation that increased the gross sales by 10% annually and implemented procedures that reduced overall costs by 3%.

Mr. Oberan’s background also includes purchasing and materials management in the aeronautics industry. He received his BS Degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University along with Professional Designations in Government Contracts, and Purchasing and Materiel’s Management from UCLA.

 

Troy S. Bowman / Vice President, Operations

Mr. Bowman joined Better ATM Services from KPMG LLP in 2008. He has over 10 years experience in international business systems controls, assurance and advisory services and technology oversight. From 2001 through 2008, Mr. Bowman was a Senior Manager with KPMG LLP, leading both domestic and international efforts for medium to large-sized companies. He has experience in leading Sarbanes Oxley reviews, along with SAS 70 assessments and internal audit projects.

Mr. Bowman graduated from the Brigham Young University School of Accountancy and Information Systems in 2000 with a Masters degree in Information Systems Management and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems.

Mr. Bowman is also Certified Information Systems Auditor and Microsoft Certified Professional. He has led assessment and advisory efforts in the fields of: credit card processing, Indian and casino gaming, airline travel, hospitality, trucking and transportation, health care, law enforcement, mining, construction, and public utility services, His technology skills cover mainframe, mid-size, client/server and Unix environments.

Stephen L. Oberan / Inventor / Member of the Board

Stephen is a results-oriented executive with demonstrated success in business development and financial strategies. His demonstrated insights and experience are an outcome of his involvement at many levels of business planning and development (structured and entrepreneurial new business start-ups many being of his own patent ideas or designs ).



Aaron G. Vaughn / Co-Founder and Vice President.

Mr. Vaughn has twenty years experience in strategy, marketing and communications with emphasis in the digital marketing and research and provides essential information knowledge and research.

 

Derek B. Cook / Treasurer and Director.

Mr. Cook has nearly ten years in the mortgage brokerage industry and is president and CEO of his own mortgage firm. As Treasurer, Mr. Cook has been the principal fundraiser for Better ATM and manages the company’s third party accounting management firm.


Anthony Shumway / Member of the Board.

Mr. Shumway served several years on the Board of Directors and later as Chairman of the Board of the SPTF (Screen Printing Technical Foundation), the technical arm of the SGIA, and provides Better ATM Services with knowledge about printing/card production and methods.


 

Murdoch Henretty / Consultant and Shareholder.

Mr. Henretty has over thirty years of domestic and international experience in materials and components for payment cards, currencies and security documents with Visa International, Innovative Card Technology and Thomas De La Rue. He provides Better ATM with technical expertise in card materials and electronic reading components for prepaid cards and other non-cash media.
