Todd L. Nuttall / CEO & Chairman
Todd Nuttall serves as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors. He assumed his duties following his initial tenure as a consultant to Better ATM™ Services in 2004.
Mr. Nuttall has more than 20 years of experience in domestic and international business leadership, finance, payments systems, audit, and business consulting. In addition to his duties at Better ATMTM Services, he maintains his consulting firm, CoPilot LLC. Since 2002, CoPilot LLC has provided strategic counsel to numerous growing entrepreneurial businesses to improve profitability and prepare operations, management, and reporting for sale. His roles and responsibilities at client venues have included those of General Manager and CEO and his extensive knowledge and hands-on expertise has led to his successes in multiplying the business volume and value of clients.
Previously, as Vice President of Financial and Strategic Services for American Express, Mr. Nuttall led efforts to transform payment processing and financial reconciliation and reporting. His leadership extended around the world with major centers in India, the U.K., and North America. He presided over disaster recovery leading the American Express Financial Resource Center through the 9/11 recovery and displacement of 5,000 New York-based workers. He led the deployment of Six Sigma and Total Process Quality Assurance efforts.
From 1996 to 1999, Mr. Nuttall served as Vice President and CFO of American Express Worldwide Data Operations, which included oversight and reporting on technology spending approaching $1 Billion annually. During this period of significant technology growth, he led efforts to ensure proper technology investment and business profit margin assurance through the implementation of Activity-Based Costing chargeback models and Systems Reengineering. In addition, Mr. Nuttall led efforts resulting in cost savings and reductions approaching $200 million.
In 1995, Ernst & Young LLP recruited Mr. Nuttall to help lead the Phoenix-based Information Systems Assurance and Advisory Services. In this capacity, he consulted and audited the business activities of numerous businesses in the southwestern United States. Prior to this, Mr. Nuttall had served in Internal Audit for Phelps Dodge Corporation (now Freeport McMoRan), the world’s 2nd largest producer of copper and copper products. His work at Phelps Dodge included reviews and investigations of business activities throughout North, Central, and South America. Mr. Nuttall’s fluency in Spanish has long served as an asset in all his leadership roles.
Mr. Nuttall’s impressive credentials also include technology leadership roles at Boeing Computer Systems. There, he was awarded the Westinghouse Signature Award of Engineering Excellence for his leadership over large distributed computing implementations, which covered not only Boeing, but also business partners including Westinghouse Corporation, Kaiser Engineering, Battelle-Pacific Northwest Laboratories, and the U.S. Department of Energy.
Mr. Nuttall holds a B.A. in Communications, Media Management and Sales from Brigham Young University, and an M.B.A. from Colorado State University where he was also recognized as the first C.S.U. M.B.A. graduate with a specialty in Computer Information Systems. He is an active Pilot and aircraft owner and sponsors numerous efforts in the general aviation community. Back to List
Derek B. Cook / CFO and Director
Since 2005, Mr. Cook has provided invaluable leadership with his dedication and leadership in helping to develop Better ATM™ Services from an idea to a company with proven products. His personal financial commitment is matched by his work with early investors that has enabled development and facilitated growth for the company. Serving as Chief Financial Officer, he has lead his team through a complete financial and company audit dating to the inception of Better ATM™ Services. Mr. Cook has also overseen the legal aspects of Better ATM Services, Inc.’s development.
Mr. Cook is also President and Owner of 1st Integrity Mortgage, LLC, which started operations in 2001. While he continues to oversee 1st Integrity Mortgage’s operations, current line management performs daily activities. Mr. Cook obtained his real estate license in 2002 and has since conducted numerous real estate transactions under the banner of his firm, Presidential Realty, specializing in second home properties.
Mr. Cook’s extensive interests include his automobile enterprise. Since early childhood, he has had a love of automobiles. In 2004, Mr. Cook parlayed his passion into a business pursuit with the establishment of CW Motors for which he serves as President and Owner. CW Motors has grown to offer not only mid-range, resale automobiles, but also high-end specialty cars. Here, too, Mr. Cook has a dedicated management team to attend to daily operations. Ever the entrepreneur, in 2008, he formed a partnership to open the French-themed restaurant Saint Francis in the heart of Phoenix. The restaurant opened during the summer of 2009 and will be under the direction of his partners giving Mr. Cook time to continue to devote himself to his role as Better ATMTM Services’ CFO. Daniel R. Oberan / Director and Founder
Daniel Oberan is the founder of Better ATM™ Services and serves as a Director. Better ATM™ Services is the brainchild of Mr. Oberan based on the early patent development of his brother, Stephen. He acquired the primary patented technology supporting the issuance of non-cash media from ATMs from his brother and led efforts to further develop the business model. His efforts included significant market research and assembling the executive talent and industry expertise to develop the Better ATMTM Services’ prepaid card distribution system for market penetration.
Mr. Oberan’s experience includes improvement of systems that deliver products, tactical planning, and comprehensive knowledge of all matters related to the business of the organization. He maintains rigorous involvement in the day-to-day activities of Better ATM™ Services in order to improve the systems that deliver non-cash media products from ATMs worldwide and provides another senior voice of guidance to top management.
Before founding Better ATM™ Services, Mr. Oberan spent twelve years as co-owner and manager for a financial direct marketing firm serving more than 140,000 customers. Under his leadership, the firm introduced innovations that increased gross sales by 10% annually and implemented procedures that reduced overall costs by 3%.
Mr. Oberan’s background also includes purchasing and materials management in the aeronautics industry. He received his BS Degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University along with Professional Designations in Government Contracts, and Purchasing and Materiel’s Management from UCLA. Troy S. Bowman / Vice President, Operations
Mr. Bowman joined Better ATMTM Services from KPMG LLP in 2008. He has more than 10 years experience in international business systems controls, assurance and advisory services, and technology oversight. From 2001 through 2008, Mr. Bowman was a Senior Manager with KPMG LLP, leading both domestic and international efforts for medium to large-sized companies. He has experience in leading Sarbanes Oxley reviews along with SAS 70 assessments and internal audit projects.
Mr. Bowman graduated from the Brigham Young University School of Accountancy and Information Systems in 2000 with a Masters degree in Information Systems Management and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems.
Mr. Bowman brings additional expertise as a Certified Information Systems Auditor and a Microsoft Certified Professional. He has led assessment and advisory efforts in the fields of: credit card processing, Indian and casino gaming, airline travel, hospitality, trucking and transportation, health care, law enforcement, mining, construction, and public utility services, His technology skills include mainframe and mid-size client/server and Unix environments.
